Kenneth T. Hertz, CMPE, president, KTH Consulting, received the 2005 Edward B. Stevens Article of the Year Award from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the American College of Management Association (ACMPE), the certification and standard-setting body of MGMA.

Hertz is vice president of Louisiana Medical Group Management Association (LMGMA), and conference chair for 2005-2006. He will accept the award at the MGMA 2005 Annual Conference in Nashville, Tenn. in conjunction with the 49th convocation of ACMPE. The Edward B. Stevens Article of the Year Award recognizes a medical group practice professional who has made a substantial contribution to the body of published literature to foster more effective and efficient health care delivery in the field. Hertz is being honored for his article, "Front office: Asset or liability," published in the August 2004 issue of MGMA Connexion™. "Ken's insights into front office improvements are significant to medical group practices," said William F. Jessee, MD, FACMPE, MGMA and ACMPE president and CEO. "Such articles help medical group practice professionals see the practice from the patients' point of view. These content-rich and relevant articles fortify the patient side of medical practice management."

Hertz's article offers readers methods that will help create a positive impression of the front office for patients through illustrating how patients are influenced by office staff interface and how training staff properly can create a better patient experience and influence return visitors and referrals.
